Once you become aware of the toxins that are in our everyday makeup and personal care products, it can be challenging to find products that you are comfortable using and actually WORK WELL. At least that was the case for me.
Luckily, I was fortunate to find an AMAZING brand to replace almost ALL of my, AND my family’s, everyday products. If you are struggling to find good replacements that are not only SAFE but WORK WELL then please contact me by clicking here!
Even though I’ve discovered this amazing brand, there are still a few things that I hadn’t found a safe replacement for…..like safe perfume/body spray and safe nail polish.
I rarely use perfume anymore………never in fact. I tried a safe perfume by Phlur, which I liked ok, but didn’t love. Overall the brand is great, but I haven’t found my favorite scent from Phlur just yet, though they are continually coming out with more options!
If you’d like to hear more about the Phlur brand, check out my blog post here.
So that leaves nail polish. Now, I don’t use nail polish ALL of the time, but I do occasionally get on my nail polish kicks. And since learning about how the toxins within nail polish, I have completely cut out using it.
That is until I discovered Zoya!

Zoya is a great nail polish brand that values safer products just as I do. They tout their “10 Free Formula” which is to say that their formula is free of the following ingredients:
- Formaldehyde
- Formaldehyde Resin
- Dibutyl Phthalate
- Tolouene
- Camphor
- TPHP
- Parabens
- Xylene
- Ethyl Tosylamide
- Lead
Did you know nail polish could contain ALL of the ingredients above?! Because I sure didn’t for a long time.
So back in April, the company offered an amazing Earth Day sale and considering I hadn’t replaced any of my old nail polish, I decided to take advantage and finally get some safe nail polish!
I was able to get 6 nail polishes, a mini bottle of remover, a base coat, a hydrate and heal by Naked Manicure trial set (free), and acrylic nail chips (the kind you’d see at a salon to represent the color of the polish) which was also free all for about $50!
When I received my order, each polish came in its own individual box and was then placed inside another box which held all 6 polishes. Also included were the other items I mentioned above. Everything was pretty secure within the shipping box, though they do use packing peanuts, which I don’t care for due to the environment, but I do try to recycle or reuse things like that as much as I can.
When I received the shipment, of course I instantly looked at every color! Some I was happy with, and some were just eh……but I haven’t yet put on all of the colors, and the 3 that I have tried I do really like!
I will say that selecting the color was difficult because I was viewing it on a screen vs in person…….and sometimes color isn’t properly represented on a screen. I found this to be the biggest challenge with ordering the polish online.
I have also tried the nail polish remover, which worked just as well as any other remover I’ve had in the past. It smelled a little nicer too, but I could have done without the smell only because I tend to avoid anything with fragrance. If you’ve read my other posts then you know why. 😉

As for the last product (the hydrate and heal NM set), other than the nail chips since these aren’t wearable, I haven’t tried it. While I am excited to find a nail polish brand that is working to make safer formulas, I discovered that their other products aren’t as safe as what I currently use.
The Hydrate and Heal set had some ingredients listed that I didn’t care for (particularly ingredients that are banned by my go-to brand), so I’m not sure what I’ll do with this. For now, it’s sitting on the back of a shelf in my bathroom.
But when it comes to the nail polish itself, so far so good! Though I will continue to try other brands simply because Zoya’s nail polish is not listed on the EWG website, which does always make me a little skeptical.
But even if I haven’t yet found the SAFEST brand of nail polish, I at least know that it is a step in the right direction. And I will continue to keep my eye out for others. I am interested in trying a brand called Piggy Paint Nail Polish…….stay tuned on that brand for when I manage to snag some of their products to try!
Until then, I’d definitely suggest Zoya’s safe nail polish! And if you would like to try out the AMAZING products offered by my go-to brand then please contact me by clicking here!
