In my last post I talked about the dangers of Accutane. And though Accutane may not be available any longer by the actual brand name in the US, it is still very much prescribed and used under the generic name, isotretinoin. It could also even be called Absorica, Amnesteem, Claravis, Myorison, Sotret, and Zenatane.
The bottom line is, just because it’s not actually called Accutane anymore, doesn’t mean it’s not around. So if you see an active ingredient listed as isotretinoin then steer clear!!
What can you do if you have acne and can’t use some form of Accutane? Well, there are lots of options out there. But if you are on a mission of true wellness and want to remove toxins as much as possible from your body, then I would caution against using many of the other options available as well.
So what are some of the other options that are considered to be safe for your overall health, yet still very effective? Check out the list below for details! And if you’d like my help with finding what I believe to be the best quality, and most effective options, please contact me by clicking the button below!
Accutane Alternative #1 – A Gentle Facial Cleanser and Balancing Moisturizer or Oil
Often times when people are fighting acne, they try to get a super powerful cleanser and likely skip the moisturizer! But this is ineffective for several reasons………
First, acne can actually be caused by your skin being overly dried out. In response to the over-drying, your skin creates an excessive amount of sebum, or oil. So choosing a facial cleanser which is gentle is key.
And of course you want to make sure that the cleanser doesn’t contain any of the harsh toxins and surfactants like many do. If you are unsure about what toxins to avoid, please click the button below to download my FREE guide of toxins to avoid.
As for the moisturizer or oil I suggested, I realize that this may sound scary……..especially the idea of putting an oil on your skin when you have oily skin! But there is good reason behind this.
As I mentioned a moment ago, I’m sure it’s no surprise to you that much of acne prone skin is due to an over-secretion of oil/sebum. So when you use a facial cleanser that drys out your skin and then don’t moisturize, acne can appear.
This is why it’s very important to both wash AND moisturize. The best option is to select a moisturizer which is meant for balancing the skin. And oils, when you find a properly formulated one, are fabulous at balancing out your skin and providing the much-needed vitamins that your skin needs!
Accutane Alternative # 2 – A Charcoal Mask
If you haven’t yet discovered the power of charcoal, then allow me to introduce you to this amazing product!! Activated charcoal has been making its way into many products such as toothpaste, face masks, cleansing bars, etc.
What’s so amazing about activated charcoal is that charcoal can hold 100 times its weight in impurities……..so this is definitely a great option when trying to rid your skin of acne. And if you want to take it one step further, instead of getting a gentle cleanser as mentioned in point 1 above, get a charcoal bar!
A charcoal bar can be used daily, but it is drying by nature so be sure to use that moisturizer!
As for the mask, this should only be used approx 2 times per week, but depending on which you get, 3 times may be recommended. Of course, again, I can’t stress enough how important it is to make sure you are selecting a charcoal mask that is formulated without the harmful toxins that appear in most of our products.
NOTE – This option works well when combined with #1 above and this is how you will see the best results.
Accutane Alternative # 3 – A Gentle Treatment Targeted to Treat Acne
Ok, so this one is no surprise………and I’m sure you’ve tried many that you THOUGHT would be a great treatment system. But the truth is, just as you are learning, it is VERY difficult to find the RIGHT treatment which is FREE of harmful toxins.
Back in my acne days, I actually tried Proactive, another highly used acne treatment. But what I found was, not only did it NOT work, but it also bleached my towels in the spots that I would dry my face!!!
If I had known that was going to happen, I NEVER would have tried that treatment. Not only did it ruin my brand new towels, but I also never would have selected a treatment that had the ability to bleach them because who knows what it was doing to my body with that being the case!
I recently started using an acne specific treatment system which is not only effective, but also sooooo much safer than using accutane. And of course it does NOT bleach out my towels, lol!
If you would like more information on the acne treatment system that I have discovered, or if you would like help finding ANY of the alternatives to accutane that I have mentioned above, please contact me by clicking the button below!
It is reasons like these that I started my blog in the first place……to help people! And I would love to help you!
