Do you feel like you know how to be happy? It’s a popular question among many – how to be happy. Yet true happiness seems to elude most.
What about self care? How often are you practicing self care, or do you practice self-care?
This is important because self care is KEY to learning how to be happy.
So, if you’re bored with your self care, or if it’s something that you don’t tend to practice, then this post is for you!
I’m going to share with you 5 unique ways to practice self-care.
Now it’s a well-known fact (or perhaps only a little-known fact depending on how you were raised) that we need to be practicing self care (like I said, this is KEY to finding happiness)….
….but sometimes it can get a little boring too, especially if you’re always doing the same old things like exercising and eating right (both very important but it can become mundane at times).
Or maybe you find that while you keep trying to do nice things for yourself, it never really stops feeling selfish, especially being a mama, nor does it get any easier or any faster.
Whatever the reason, you may just be at a point where you’re ready to give up, or maybe you never even started because you just can’t see taking time away from your family in order to focus on yourself.
But the thing is…..self care is also key to stress management.
It’s a domino effect……practicing self care helps with stress, and reducing stress helps with being happy and to manifest and live your best life.
That’s why I’m going to share with you some unique and interesting ways to practice self-care in ways, which make you feel good about what it is that you’re doing.

Alright, let’s get to it!
Tip #1 for How to Be Happy Through Self-Care = Take EATING RIGHT to the Next Level
Sure, we know that we should be eating right and the importance of a good diet, but to take it to the next level, make a practice of looking for foods which are healthy and natural.
Look for foods that don’t come in a box…..ones that don’t come with a label. And look for homegrown items at places like farmer’s markets (also a fun little shopping trip π). Also look for organic foods and consider some sustainable foods as well.
Remember that eating right can have a healthy impact on those around you as well with only a little bit of thought and consideration. And when you set the example for your kids and your significant other, then that’s likely going to lead them to start eating a little bit healthier as well.
Tip #2 – Connect With Others
If you’re looking to spoil yourself, rather than indulging in some more shopping therapy and maybe adding to those credit cards that you don’t really need to add to, consider investing your time with others instead.
Something like having lunch with a friend, even if it’s a virtual lunch where you’re on zoom talking together, can be hugely beneficial.
Not only will it be impactful for you, but it’s also going to be impactful for your friend. It’ll bring a little self-care and positivity to you both!
Tip #3 – Express Your Emotions
When we shut ourselves down and we try to control our emotions, we actually do ourselves much, much more harm than we do good.
Holding things in only leads to additional stress, higher blood pressure, and other negative physical effects. It can also lead to just “exploding” at the slightest provocation, maybe not even, because we hold onto this stress and this anger…..this emotion that we really need to be expressing.
So instead look for ways to express how you are feeling. Maybe indulge in some art, journal to help get out what you’re feeling, get into a deep conversation with your significant other or with one of your really good friends.
All of these will help you to come to a better understanding of how you are feeling and aid and letting go of that negativity.
This is such an important topic that , I actually did a separate blog post on managing your emotions. If you want to check that out click here.
Tip #4 – Pamper Yourself
I think a lot of times when people think of self care, this is actually what they actually think about.
Pampering yourself with a little bit of indulgence such as a bubble bath, manicure, or a massage and wonderfully beneficial not just to your emotional state, but also for your physical state (massage especially).
To take this to the next step, use natural products and not just for you but for your littles or friends as well.
Invite friends to go to manicure or a pedicure with you and bring along your favorite safer ingredients nail polish for you both.
Not only will you benefit yourself, but you’ll also benefit the environment and others. Pick products with more natural ingredients…..or bring your own essential oil if you’re going to go get a massage. For help in choosing, you can check out some of my favorite natural products here.
Tip #5 on How to Be Happy Through Self Care = Stretching Your Mind
Self care often includes time out to read a good book or to watch a movie. And those are great ideas, but to take this to the next level, try watching a documentary instead, or reading something that has an impact upon how you think.
I would encourage you to try and find something that is a positive documentary of course…..no WWII type of documentaries here. That’s just going to bring you down which is the exact opposite of what we are going for here.
Maybe look for something that talks about the way the energy within the world is connected or something of that nature. π
Some good examples of this include some inspiring biographies or some books or documentaries on environmental issues or rather, things that you can do to get involved, if that’s something that you’re passionate about.
Anything which educates you or keeps you informed is a good idea. But let me be clear, when I say informed, I’m not talking about the news. Okay. Because that’s actually going to stress you out more!
Look for something that can help to really further your thought processes.
And there you have it my friend! π
By following these steps, self-care will become interesting for you again, or maybe it’ll become interesting for you for the first time!Β
OR maybe it’ll inspire you to start doing a self care routine.
Even more important though, is that you will start seeing how you can impact the world in a more positive way, even when you’re just taking care of yourself. (That is by using some natural products or by getting involved with the environment, showing your daughter the importance of taking care of herself too ~ cause we both know she gonna follow in her mama’s footsteps βΊοΈ)
