Please let me explain what my blog is all about. Simply, it’s about wellness. (As you might have guessed, right?! 😉). But it’s not just wellness as you’re used to hearing. No, there’s so much more than you might be thinking…….

See, I believe true balanced wellness comes from a variety of areas – not just what most consider it to be. So that is why I am challenging you to re-consider how you think of both health and wellness.
The concept of both health and wellness may be simple, but the achievement of it certainly is not.
I believe that we all want to live healthy lifestyles, but life often gets in the way. It can be difficult to find the time to eat right and workout, particularly when balancing work and raising kids. But living a healthy lifestyle and maintaining wellness is important! I certainly haven’t mastered my health and wellness journey yet, but I’m sure trying…….and really just getting started, because it absolutely is a journey!
Why is it really a journey, you may ask? Because maintaining health and wellness isn’t just about eating right and working out. In fact, there is so much more to it than that! What we watch and read, and what we put on our bodies are important too. As is making sure we take time to enjoy life. And these are things that I think people don’t often think about when considering health and wellness.
Yes, achieving true health and wellness is about balancing body, mind, and spirit!
First, consider how powerful the mind is. How many stories have you heard about people who have overcome an illness because they believed they would and could? Or about people who changed their thinking from negative to positive and then started to attract positivity and success? That’s AMAZING!
Yes, tending to your mind is crucial for wellness. So OF COURSE you want to feed your mind with positivity, and good, educational and fun material. So we have to start ourselves, and especially our kids, off right by seeking out good influences, and good books especially! In today’s world of constant negativity in the press, on TV, etc, this can be hard to do. But we must! Because a healthy mind is a big key to a healthy body.

So we talked a little bit about the mind, now let’s talk about the body.
Living a healthy lifestyle in terms of our body’s functionality, aside from our mind, is simply about eating right and working out right? And as long as we do those things, we will ensure our physical well-being, right? WRONG!
What if I told you that the majority of us unknowingly cover our bodies with toxic chemicals every day? You’d probably roll your eyes or think “yeah right”. But due to a lack of regulation within the personal care industry, that is EXACTLY what is going on.
So even if you have mastered eating right and working out, you are likely still poisoning yourself from the outside in. In fact, it takes a mere 26 seconds for the products that we put on our bodies to absorb into our blood stream.
Just let that sink in (no pun intended), and let’s really think about that!
Our skin is our largest organ, and unlike our digestive system, it does not have the ability to metabolize the toxic chemicals that enter our bodies through it.
So 26 seconds after applying that lotion, body wash, sunscreen, shampoo, conditioner, shaving cream, putting on deodorant, makeup, etc, these toxic chemicals enter our bloodstream and begin to poison us by affecting our reproductive and endocrine systems, causing and/or irritating our allergies, and potentially causing cancer (there’s a LOT of known carcinogens in our every day products….even BABY products <—–how appalling is that?!).
So what are we supposed to do?! You can start with reading the labels, but what’s on them is so confusing that it can be difficult to know what is safe and what is harmful. That’s why I compiled a FREE guide to help you quickly and easily identify which of your products contain harmful chemicals.

So what we read, what we eat, what we use on our bodies, and exercising are all important for achieving health and wellness, but what else? What about our spirituality? Now this can mean many things for many people so for this purpose, let’s say it means finding our inner peace.
There’s so much out there right now that can disrupt our spirituality. But some of the things that I believe to help are things like travel, yoga, meditation, and massage. Heck, even having your own business is a way to find inner peace. It allows you to build your financial freedom, have time freedom, and call the shots! And hopefully work on/build a company that you believe in. 😉
For those stay-at-home moms, having your own business is a great way to keep your mind engaged while also having the time to watch your kids grow. For the individual bound to the office, having your own business is a way to take control of your life and set your own rules!
How great would it be to be able to do whatever you want whenever you want?! To be able to travel or play when you want and work when you want?! Yes, you have to work at building it, but this can be more achievable than you think.

When thinking of health and wellness, consider every angle of life…….the body, not just what you eat and how much you exercise, but what you put on it as well; the mind, what you read and watch, both consciously and subconsciously, are likely affecting your life and mindset; and your spirit, finding inner peace whether through travel, work, meditation, relaxation techniques, etc.
Yes, I believe balancing body, mind, and spirit are vital in achieving TRUE wellness. That is why I will be dedicating my blog to exploring these areas in detail. Because this post has only scratched the surface in exploring these areas.
Wednesdays, specifically, will be dedicated to Re-thinking Heath and Wellness. In other words, considering different angles, products, etc. that you may not have thought of previously and how they are affecting your health and wellness!
